Subtle messages. Nuanced implications. There’s a story hidden beneath the words printed on page. What is it telling us, and what do we take away from it? Truly, the ability to make one go back to search for each detail… This may be an art unlike any other.
Welcome back to Your Literary Implications— a bi-weekly writing prompt with a focus on making you (and I) think.
Last week’s prompt was called Just Out of Sight, which explored the scenario of not quite being able to place what’s moving in the corner of your eye.
We’re now on prompt number four, and this time it’s sure to be interesting. Before we jump in, we didn’t get any submissions to shout out this week, so there’s nothing on that docket. If you participate in our prompts, please submit them here to be shout-out eligible.
Prompt: Inside the Disc.
Description: Life is great. The weather is always nice, and the neighbors are kind and friendly. It feels like everything is working out just the way you want it to… Except for the laughing voices from beyond.
Only you seem to be able to hear them, and it’s driving you crazy. Worse, they only happen when something embarrassing or awkward happens. The more it happens, the more you start to wonder: “Am I living in a sitcom?”
Rules:
Create a plot twist that turns everything about this prompt on its head.
Responses should be no more than 1500 words. Poems are allowed.
After you have finished your response to the prompt, submit to our form to be eligible for a shout-out in our next prompt.
Since we don’t have any shout-outs…
I'm going to use this space to advertise something! Oh, I know. Lame. But hey don’t worry, there’s no sponsor. In fact, it’s just me telling YOU how you can get your books listed (for free) on BookStack.
As you can see, BookStack is much more than a blog— it’s a directory— nay a catalog where you can discover new indie reads. But in order for that to be possible, we need more additions to our catalog. So if you want some free advertising, fill out the form, hit submit, and I’ll get to including it.
It is my mission to help bring awareness to as many indie authors as possible, and I hope you’ll be a part of it. Interested? Here’s the form below.
Another week, another prompt poll post. But as always, and as it should, your voice matters. So I encourage you to choose wisely, as your decision will directly affect our next prompt post. And with that, I bid you farewell. Goodbye for now!
