The Stack Bi-Weekly #5: Another Giveaway, Book Sale, ARC opportunities, and stuff for Pride Month.
Welcome back to our bi-weekly newsletter where we discuss in house stuff and community updates!
Hello and welcome back to our bi-weekly newsletter, where we cover news and events relating to the Author community. This one is mostly in-house stuff, but we’ll have some ARC reading opportunities posted, too!
But before we do, if you have a story, event, or something else going on that you’d like others to know about. You can reach out to me here, or fill out our contact form. I’d love to cover your story.
The Next BookStack Monthly Giveaway is Underway!
This has been going on since the 28th, but if you’ve missed it here’s what’s happening. Every month I run a big giveaway, where folks can enter in to possibly win a Bookshop.org gift card. But this time, there’s a twist:
While it starts off as a $25 gift card, you’ll have the opportunity to possibly win up to $50 in gift card credit instead. But it’s up to you and everyone else to get the entries we need to make that possible. See the full giveaway post for more details.
Inside the Sun and Moon eBook is on sale until June 12th.
Get it now for just 50 cents. Inside the Sun and Moon a small collection of poems written over the course of a few years that discusses feelings of loneliness, longing, love, and desire, as explored through the writing lens of Hazel Allen.
Again, the sale ends June 12th, alongside the above giveaway, so get this cute little poetry book while you can! It’s only available on my ko-fi, so make sure you use this link if you want to buy it.

In our last issue we covered a few different ARC reading opportunities, and now we’re back compiling a few more for you. Sign up to read some books and support an Indie Author’s growth!
In Ice we Steel: Rise of Kerti Book One by Ayleen K. Kyrstin: “If you like a high-stakes rebellion like Mistborn and Andor, a heist like Six of Crows, Zuko-inspired redemption arc, themes of power and truth found in Dune and 1984, and a queer-normative world… Then come for a ride with this action packed, character driven epic fantasy!” Sign up for this ARC here.
ARC Opportunities from BookBuzzPR: BookBuzz has currently three different books looking for ARC Readers. One book is a billionaire romance drama, the next a sci-fi/fantasy post apocalyptic slow burn, and the third is an intense morally grey, billionaire esque novel with Black romance and African mythology. If any of those sound interesting, you can sign up for them here.

Daughter of the Dark Sun by D. Kathleen McAteer: Ever wonder what a dark version of Bridgerton with magic involved would look like? The check out this author’s debut novel— a slow burn, curse-filled dark romantasy just waiting for your eyes. Sign up for it here.
It Happened One Summer by E.L Deliza: Forbidden romance, and undying longing for that first kid. Read on as Dante and Darshini must decide if the forbidden is worth the risk, or should they walk away before it becomes too late. Sign up here.
For even more ARC reading opportunities, check out this thread post, or this other one here.
Ongoing: Check out this curated mini-newsletter highlighting banned queer books on the daily!
During the Month of June,
is taking the initiative to highlight various queer books that have been banned. As they put it: “ Book banning is not a new phenomenon by any stretch of the imagination. It’s consistently been the tried-and-true strategy for homophobes, racists, and bigots the world over in silencing their opposition, or when manufacturing a culture war amongst members of the working class.”And in recent years, book banning has become especially more prominent in places like Florida, Texas, and Iowa. No books should be banned, and especially not LGBTQ+ books. So, if this curated newsletter interests you, go give Zachariah your subscribe.
The Indie Author Summer Extravaganza has just begun!

Our final headline for today’s newsletter covers the already ongoing Indie Author Summer Extravaganza. A huge book sale that starts today and runs through June 9th!
In this you can expect to find discounts on over 150 books written by indie authors. The sale covers a vast array of genres and formats, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
In fact you can see a few highlighted books in the graphics above, all from author Kate Hershberger. She’s the one who actually helped me discover this amazing book sale, so big shout-out to her!
If this sounds like something you don’t want to miss out on, hit the button below to go to the sale front. Happy reading!
