The Stack Bi-Weekly #3: A Giveaway, Writing Challenge + More.
Welcome back to our bi-weekly newsletter where we discuss in house stuff and community updates!
Loads of big stuff has happened in the weeks since our last issue, so I’m quite excited to cover it all with you. And we already covered some of it here, so let’s move on to our other topics.
Before we do that though: Thanks for tuning into our bi-weekly newsletter, where we cover in-house stuff and community updates! I haven’t been consistent on that “bi-weekly” part however, so I do apologize!
And if you have a story, event, or something else going on that you’d like others to know about. You can reach out to me here, or fill out our contact form. I’d love to cover your story.
Currently Ongoing: The BookStack Opening Giveaway.

A free-to-enter giveaway which celebrates the opening of our Catalog! If you like reading books and supporting indie writers, this may just be for you. Head on over to the post to learn how you can enter for a chance to win a $25 BookShop.org gift card. But hurry, the Giveaway ends on May 12th, so don’t miss out.
More Ongoing: The Madness and (May)hem Challenge.
is an incredibly talented and inspiration writer, having gained over a thousand subscribers in the few months since he started on Substack. And you may also know him for a Flash Fiction February challenge he hosted. Well, he’s back at it again! And this time he’s bringing both the madness and the mayhem to his writing challenge! Flock over to his subscriber chat to get daily prompts, where the “only certainty is uncertainty.”
Here’s some of which you can expect:
Sequels and prequels to your existing stories
Stories and poetry set in one of my connected universes
Challenges that lean into specific tropes or structures
The chance to have me record narration for your story
Prompts that force you to write in unfamiliar genres
And much, much more…
Exciting right? Then go check out his post for more details. This is a month long event, so even if you’re late to the party— there’s still plenty to look forward to!
Coming Soon: A New Entry to the Saxon Saga from Ingrid Moon.
Fantasy and Sci-fi Author Ingrid Moon is gearing up for the release of her third book (from the Saxon Saga) on May 15th. Now available for pre-order, here’s a snapshot of what readers can expect from this series:
Welcome to the Milky Way, 12,000 years A.E.
In the far future, our galaxy is inhabited only by humans... and the new, variant races that are adapting to and evolving in new environments. One of those races is the Saxen, biologically empowered by an ancestry that was devastated by the Sa-X virus.
Although Earth is long gone, humankind has barely changed. Basic needs must be met. People create conflict. Agreement and allies are rare. The galaxy is gritty and dangerous. No one is safe from humankind, and nowhere is safe from the Saxen girl whose genome was altered to release a new deadly virus upon her death.

Edit to include: announces his upcoming novel’s release date.
This just in, during a live video on Substack today— Mr. Troy Ford sits down with his husband to announce his novel’s release date (June 3rd!), and do an unboxing of the proof copy.
Last month in March he revealed the novel’s cover, and announced pre-orders are open. You can learn more about the book there, and perhaps, snag a pre-order for yourself!
That’s it for this week’s headlines! But a quick mention and reminder. So, Ingrid Moon isn’t in our catalog, nor did she reach out to me to cover her story. She’s just an author I follow (and have gotten the chance to do a Spotlight on in the past).
If you’re an author with an upcoming book, newly announced, or now available for pre-order. I’d love to be able to cover that in our newsletter. If it falls outside of our posting schedule, we can make room for it in a different post segment. So don’t be afraid to reach out.

Thanks for reading everyone, and we’ll see you all in the next issue. Which will be going up on May 23rd to get us back on schedule. Buh-bye now!
This was an amazing newsletter, Hazel! I also very much appreciate the shout out for my challenge. Some amazing highlights in here, I love the format!
