My Dear Readers,
Hi hi, it’s been quiet here recently. I’m so sorry for that. Life has been busy, and I’ve been recovering from some creative burnout. Some of you who follow my other blogs may already know that though.
With how busy I’ve been IRL and the impending school season almost upon us, I’ve realized I need to scale back posts here. That’s not to say it’ll always be like that, or I’m getting rid of all content.
No. Nothing like that. Just less frequent.
I knew from the beginning running a blog like this alone was unsustainable, and it’s clear I’ve reached that point. But I also knew from the beginning I’d need help to keep things running smoothly.
Keeping news updates, fun activities, and author awareness up is important. I want to be able to engage more and help serve the indie community. But time is little, and time is everything. Well… energy too— I just wanted to say that though.
But let’s jump back for a second. You read what I said, “I also knew I’d need help.” (To paraphrase). It’s true. I need help running this thing at the right posting frequency. So while I am scaling back posts for right now, I’m going to get more people on board to help make BookStack what it is: a place for readers to discover their next read, or new favorite author.
If you’re interested in volunteering your time and energy into helping this project, I’ll be putting out an volunteer sign-up form soon. I try my best to be as accommodating to the needs of anyone I work with, so don’t be afraid to reach out. I look forward to seeing what comes from this <3.
Moving on to the schedule changes, here’s the changes:
Author Spotlights: Bi-Weekly on Mondays.
Your Literary Implications: Bi-weekly on alternating Mondays.
The Writer’s Roll: Monthly (Date TBD)
Book Reviews: No set date. Just whenever I get around to one.
Here’s what’s being shelved for now:
Giveaways: I feel these negatively affect perception of the blog, and might be seen only as a tool to gain new subscribers. I do these for fun, and will do them again the future. I know I haven’t announced winners for the last one yet, but with how absent I’ve been, I need to talk to each author to make sure they’re still on board. So an update there will come soon.
The Stack Bi-Weekly: While these were great to bring awareness to ARC reading opportunities, the same couldn’t be said for indie related news and events. News stories operate better more on a day-to-day basis, rather than a “bi-weekly catch all.” Still I’d like to make this happen again eventually.
Mini Author Spotlights: These didn’t take off like I thought they would, so I haven’t had any to do. I think there were some confusion about the difference between these and regular spotlights, so that may have contributed.
What’s happening with the Catalog? New book listings will be added to the Catalog as they pop up. I know I haven’t added anything in several weeks, and still need to finish the most recent one (I only added their profile). So these remain unaffected by the scale back.
Changes to other Paid Services: Before my burnout happened I decided to roll out some “express” options for my book reviews and author spotlights. Which is a way to skip the line by paying a small fee. This did not take off, so I’ll be removing these.
Alright, I think that’s everything for changes. I’ve been putting out a bunch of serious posts, I know. But I hope this leaves those following BookStack and I faith that I’m not just disappearing. It’s more of a rebound and I’m getting back on my writing toes once more.
Thank you all for your support!
Just take care of yourself is all we need. We are busy people and we- no I understand completely ( cannot speak for everyone). Been doing some scaling back myself as well
