Weekly Prompt #2: The Boy Made of Air.
Welcome back everyone for our next weekly writing prompt! This one imploring you to explore a scenario where a boy is made of air.

Prompt: The Boy Made of Air.
You never noticed him at first.
The boy made of air. Always in the corner of your eye, but never at the center of your attention. Floating in your vision like one of those squiggly lines. Endlessly begging to be seen by your eyes, but invisible when you try to focus on it.
Till one night while you’re fast asleep. The boy made of air makes an unexpected appearance. You are laying in bed, and he floats above it, trying to beckon you to follow him.
But you cannot leave the bed. His form wavers like an apparition, and you begin to wonder if he is really real. As the sun rises, and you begin to stir, his expression becomes more frantic— scared.
And just before your eyes open, he whispers:
“Please, let me out.”
Rule: 1500 word limit.

We’re going to move onto some shout-outs, but before we do so— a reminder: At the end of this post is a poll and your answer helps inspire next week’s prompt. Choose wisely— though I suspect you’ll never truly know what I manage to come up with.
Oh… hang on, someone’s interrupting our transmission— bzzt.
The Switch 2 launched recently, and I need your help in order to get it. Support me over on Ko-fi, or upgrade your subscription today to aid me towards my goal. Your support means the world to me, so thank you.
Wow, sorry I don’t know what happened there. But I guess they’re trying to get money for a Switch 2? UNIMPORTANT. Let’s get to those shout-outs for last week’s prompt! For this week, I chose two, but in the future I may choose more than that.
1. Low Rent Blues by
A fun piece with a song-tune flow to it. Maryellen’s writing is always magnificent, and I really enjoyed her interpretation of this last week’s prompt. Makes the idea of living in a haunted apartment all the more whimsical and surprisingly… fun! Despite the story it tells throughout.
2. Rougarou by
Melanie’s piece is a short-story which drives away from the ghost idea to focus on something perhaps, more interesting. A story based on and inspired by Lousiana, Dave and Joey are on the road to Natchitoches after Joey get’s a new job as a land surveyor.
However Joey’s new house is a little creepy, and there’s something terribly off about it. And what starts as a promising trip for Dave, ends in a waking nightmare. I won’t spoil the whole story, but it has to do with that title. Amazing story though, honestly!
And now we’re in the last segment of this post. But don’t go to dust off your keyboards and writing notebooks yet! It’s time for the poll. Again, choose wisely, as this will inspire next week’s prompt!
